Wolfgang Van Halen paid a touching tribute to his father Eddie Van Halen on the first anniversary of the legendary guitarist’s death.
“You fought so hard for so long, but you were still taken away. It’s just so unfair,” Wolfgang wrote as caption to a picture of himself with his dad posted on Instagram on Wednesday.
I’m not ok. I don’t think I’ll ever be ok. There’s so much I wish I could show you. So many things I wish I could share with you. I wish I could laugh with you again. I wish I could hug you again. I miss you so much it hurts,” added the former Van Halen bassist. “I’m trying to do my best here without you, but it’s really fu**ing hard. I hope you’re still proud. I love you with all of my heart, Pop. Watch over me.”
Eddie Van Halen, who is the co-founder of rock band Van Halen, died on October 6, 2020, after a battle with cancer at age 65.
Following the death of his father, Wolfgang began to focus on his solo project Mammoth WVH, where he performs all instruments and vocals.
