U2‘s Bono and The Edge have teamed up with Martin Garrix to record the official song for Euro 2020.
The track, titled “We Are The People We’ve Been Waiting,” will drop on May 14. The European soccer tournament is set to kick off on Friday, June 11.
The tournament, to be held in 11 cities in 11 UEFA countries, was originally scheduled to take place from June 12 to July 12, 2020 but was postponed due to Covid pandemic.
“We Are The People We’ve Been Waiting For w/ Bono & The Edge – May 14th! #euro2020” Garrix tweeted along with a picture of three of them.
“Martin adores football so this opportunity was massive for him, which is why he aimed for the very top when looking for collaborators,” NME reported, citing a music insider.
