Sting Reportedly In Talks To Sell Song Catalog For $250 Million-Plus

Sting is reportedly in advanced negotiations to sell his song catalog for north of $250 million.

According to Variety, some sources have claimed that Universal Music Publishing is in the lead to acquire the song catalog, while some others claim that Sting’s catalog may remain with Sony Music Publishing.

The 70-year old iconic musician, whose real name is Gordon Sumner, has had a great career that spans five decades. He owns an impressive catalog that includes hits like “Every Breath You Take,” “Roxanne,” “Message in a Bottle,” “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic,” “If You Love Someone Set Them Free” and many others.

With the Police, Sting became one of the world’s best-selling music artists. Solo and with the Police combined, he has sold over 100 million records.

Sting has received 17 Grammy Awards, including Song of the Year for “Every Breath You Take,” three Brit Awards, including Best British Male Artist in 1994 and Outstanding Contribution in 2002, a Golden Globe, an Emmy and four nominations for the Academy Award for Best Original Song.
