Prince’s Camille album, which remained on the shelf for a long time, looks set to arrive via Jack White‘s Third Man Records

White and his Third Man Records co-founder Ben Blackwell have revealed that they obtained the rights to release the album recorded by Prince under his feminine alter ego, Camille, in 1986.

“We’re finally going to put it out,” Blackwell told Mojo. “Prince’s people agreed – almost too easy.”

White reportedly bid a fee as high as $49,375 in an auction to win a copy of the album. The release date has not been announced as yet.

All the songs from the upcoming record were officially released earlier in some form. “Housequake,” “Strange Relationship” and “If I Was Your Girlfriend” were part of Prince’s 1987 record, the double-album masterpiece Sign O’ the Times.

“Feel U Up” and “Shockadelica” were released as the B-sides to “Partyman” from the Batman album and “If I Was Your Girlfriend,” respectively.

“Good Love” was part of the soundtrack to the Michael J. Fox movie Bright Lights, Big City, while “Rockhard in a Funky Place” appeared on The Black Album, which received a limited release in 1994, and “Rebirth of the Flesh” was released in 2020 as part of an expanded reissue of Sign O’ the Times.
