Queen‘s Greatest Hits was narrowly beaten by Olivia Rodrigo‘s Sour from reaching the top spot on the Official U.K. Albums Chart.
Rodrigo’s Sour earned a fourth week at No. 1 on the Official U.K. Albums chart, with a narrow lead of just 270 chart sales over Queen’s Greatest Hits.
The demand for Greatest Hits was boosted by the 40th anniversary reissue campaign. According to the charts compiler, 78% of Queen’s final total during the week was made up of physical sales.
Queen’s Greatest Hits, which is the U.K.’s biggest album of all time, has earned over six million units since its release in 1981. It has been part of the chart for 985 weeks, a streak bettered only by ABBA‘s Gold with 1,001 weeks and counting.
