Ozzy Osbourne has announced his first non-fungible tokens (NFTs) collection, called the “CryptoBatz” collection.
The Black Sabbath legend created the NFTs himself and will launch the 9,666 unique NFT bats collection in January 2022.
“CryptoBatz” is a reference to Ozzy’s infamous incident during his 1982 performance at Veterans Memorial Auditorium in Des Moines, Iowa, when he bit the head off a live bat. He later claimed that he thought the bat was a toy thrown to him by an audience member.
According to an official release, each “Cryptobatz” has the the ability to “bite” an NFT from a different Blue Chip project and create a “Mutantbat” that shares the DNA of both tokens.”
“I’ve been trying to get in on the NFT action for a while so when I asked Sharon for a Bored Ape for Christmas after several failed attempts of buying my own, and she said no, I decided to create my own,” Ozzy said in a statement.
He added “CryptoBatz is a f—ing mental project for NFT collectors and fans. The design pays tribute to one of my most iconic onstage moments and is a chance to acquire a rare piece of art history. I love it!”
