Midnight Oil Postpone Shows After Drummer Tests Positive For Covid-19

Midnight Oil have postponed the next two shows on their “Resist” tour after drummer Rob Hirst tested positive for Covid-19.

“Midnight Oil is disappointed to announce that Rob Hirst has returned a positive test for Covid-19. As a result the band needs to postpone its next two gigs to allow Rob to quarantine as required by Victorian law,” the Australian rock band wrote on its website and social media.

The Midnight Oil’ show at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena with Amyl and The Sniffers, scheduled for March 9, will now take place on March 27.

Their gig at Rutherglen with Hoodoo Gurus and All Our Exes Live In Texas, originally planned for March 12, has been rescheduled to April 24 over the ANZAC Day long weekend.

The band made it clear that all tickets will automatically be valid for the new dates. Refunds will be available from point of purchase for those who are unable to attend the rescheduled dates.

Despite the positive test, Hirst “actually feels a bit better today and is confident of a full and speedy recovery,” the band says.
