Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger responded to Beatles legend Paul McCartney‘s “blues cover band” remarks during a recent concert.
Last week, McCartney took a friendly dig at the Rolling Stones in an interview with the New Yorker‘s David Remnick.
McCartney purportedly suggested the Beatles worked from a broader range of musical languages than their peers like the Rolling Stones.
“I’m not sure I should say it, but they’re a blues cover band, that’s sort of what the Stones are,” the rock icon told Remnick. “I think our net was cast a bit wider than theirs.”
However, at a concert in Los Angeles last Thursday, October 14, Jagger jokingly said, “There’s so many celebrities here tonight. Megan Fox is here, she’s lovely. Leonardo DiCaprio. Lady Gaga. Kirk Douglas. Paul McCartney is here, he’s going to help us – he’s going to join us in a blues cover later.”
