Members of Duran Duran recently revealed that they turned down an opportunity to collaborate with Michael Jackson.
During an interview on “What Happens Live With Andy Cohen” on Monday (August 2), host Andy Cohen asked the British pop-rock band if they had a friendship with Jackson.
Keyboardist Nick Rhodes recalled receiving a phone call from someone claiming to be Jackson, who he initially thought was a member of their crew playing a prank but eventually realized was actually the King of Pop.
Rhodes explained Jackson was “keen to make a record” with Duran Duran, who were among the biggest band in the world at the time.
“I go to everyone, ‘Hey Michael Jackson called last night. Do you fancy maybe doing a song with him?’” Rhodes said. “And they all went, ‘Nah.’”
Meanwhile, Duran Duran is currently set to release their fifteenth studio album Future Past on October 22 via BMG. The band released the lead single from the album, Invisible, in May.
