Former Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth has dropped a brand-new countrified single, “Giddy Up.”
Featured in the singer’s immersive comic book, “The Roth Project,” the new song is accompanied by 4 other tracks that score the cowboy-themed artwork created by Roth himself.
The other tracks include “Somewhere Over the Rainbow Bar and Grill,” “Alligator Pants,” “Lo-Rez Sunset,” and “Manda Bala,” with Roth collaborating with guitarist John 5 on all five tracks several years back.
The 17-chapter comic book, released last year, was also written as well as narrated by Roth himself, in addition to featuring his original music.
Roth and John 5 apparently co-wrote and produced a plethora of songs in addition those recently released.
They are of “top quality,” assured John 5 in a 2015 interview with Jude Gold’s “No Guitar Is Safe” podcast.
“I would just go to his house . and I’d write these songs with him. … They’re so good. They’re so good … They’re really great songs,” he shared, though the release date of the tracks has yet to be announced.
