For 20 years, KOOL 105 has been your home for Mile High Hits. You've let us in to your home and your hearts. You've also supported KOOL and many charitable causes, helping people all over Denver, and for that we thank you! But our work isn't done yet. This web page is a chance for us to increase public awareness of some of our favorite causes and charities around the metro area. So if you have a few extra hours or a few extra dollars and are looking to donate to a reputable charity, you can count on KOOL's Cause of the Month to keep you up to date. Thanks for caring, Denver!
The Bridge Project
New Years is a time for resolutions and new beginnings, and in the spirit of change and new beginnings, KOOL 105 listeners are encouraged to take some time to think about and lend a hand others in need of a new direction. For many disadvantaged youth, the road to self-improvement is difficult and unclear, but with proper education and clear opportunities, these youth are poised to break the cycle of poverty.
Kool 105 and the Daniels Fund are proud to present the "KOOL Cause of the Month," a spotlight on a local charity that is making a difference every day of the year. January's "KOOL Cause of the Month" is The Bridge Project, an initiative that offers disadvantaged youth the chance to improve their lives.
About The Bridge Project
For children growing up in poverty, the world may not be a level playing field. The Bridge Project believes the answer is education. It is the path out. Since its humble beginnings 15 years ago, The Bridge Project has been providing educational opportunities for children living in Denver’s public housing neighborhoods so they graduate from high school and attend college or learn a trade.
The Bridge Project has been a permanent fixture in three of Denver’s public housing neighborhoods. What makes The Bridge Project so special is that we tackle the entire education pipeline - starting in grade school and extending through college with After School, Summer, and Scholarship programs. Kids in Denver public housing have access to college thanks to The Bridge Project founders.
The Bridge Project is known for program effectiveness. To date, over 30 students have graduated from the college scholarship program and 22 are currently enrolled in college or a trade school. Last year 92% of children in tutoring relationships increased their reading scores by one grade level. The children themselves can attest to the value of The Bridge Project. Every week over 400 children on their own accord come directly from school to The Bridge Project and take part in the many program offerings.
Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are at the core of The Bridge Project. It is through one-on-one relationships between a caring adult and a child-in-need that change comes about. The benefits do not extend only to the child. Volunteers are personally transformed and come away with deep respect and gratitude for the changes they see in themselves and the children they are entrusted with.

KOOL Cause of the Month Partners with the Daniels Fund:
KOOL 105 is proud to partner with the Daniels Fund for Cause of the Month. Philanthropist Bill Daniels loved America and believed each of us has a duty to offer help and hope to others. He established the Daniels Fund in 1997 to support programs that encourage personal responsibility and achievement. When Bill died in the year 2000, the bulk of his estate transferred to Daniels Fund, making it the largest foundation in the Rocky Mountain Region.
In the Fund's articles of incorporation, Bill directed the foundation to concentrate its efforts in two primary areas: College Scholarships and Community Support, including programs designed to help the homeless, physically handicapped and elderly individuals, as well as those suffering from substance abuse and mental handicaps.
